Bright Data LinkedIn Pricing Explained: What It Actually Costs at 10K, 400K and 5M Records

Every page that ranks for Bright Data LinkedIn pricing quotes one number and moves on. The problem is that Bright Data sells LinkedIn data through two entirely different products with two entirely different rate cards, and the cheaper one flips depending on how many records you need. Quote the wrong one and you can be out by 16×.

So I sat down with Bright Data's live pricing pages on 13 August 2026, read every published figure — including the pricing tables the configurator embeds in the page rather than the rounded labels it prints — and priced one concrete workload — public LinkedIn people-profile records — at four real volumes. No estimates, no interpolation. Where Bright Data publishes no route to a number, this post says not published and leaves it there.

TL;DR: Bright Data's Web Scraper API is $1.50 per 1,000 records pay-as-you-go, falling to $1.30 per 1,000 on the $499/month Scale plan — the only committed plan it prices. The Dataset Marketplace starts at $250 for 100,000 records ($2.50 per 1,000) and will not sell you less than that. The API is cheaper below 5 million records; from 5 million up the dataset is cheaper at every published stop, by about 1.3×; and at the final 20 million stop it wins by 2.6×. And "Save 80%" raises your bill.

Two Products, Two Rate Cards

The confusion starts with the product names, so here it is plainly.

Web Scraper API. You send LinkedIn URLs or search terms and get structured records back on demand. Priced per record, billed monthly, no minimum order. Bright Data's scraper library lists seven LinkedIn collectors on this product (re-counted 14 August 2026): people profiles, company information, people search, and four separate post collectors. LinkedIn jobs are not one of them — jobs are sold as a dataset and behind their own scraper landing page, not as a collector in this library.

Dataset Marketplace. You buy a pre-collected file of records matching a filter, delivered as JSON, NDJSON, CSV, XLSX or Parquet. Priced per record with a volume ladder, a hard minimum order, and an optional refresh subscription. Bright Data's LinkedIn datasets hub states that the LinkedIn Profiles dataset "contains over 669M records", and lists the LinkedIn dataset family as a whole at "905.4M+" across five datasets (both re-read 14 August 2026). An older people-profiles landing page still carries a "over 524M records" figure; the hub is the current one, and it is the number used throughout this post.

These are not substitutes. One answers "get me these 40,000 profiles"; the other answers "give me a slice of the whole population." Bright Data LinkedIn Pricing on the Web Scraper API

Read from brightdata.com/pricing/web-scraper on 13 August 2026 and re-read on 16 September 2026. There are four plans, and exactly one of them is a committed plan with a price on it: Scale, at $499 a month. There is no ladder of Scale tiers above that one — the next step up is a quote.

Two things fall out of that table that the pricing page does not spell out.

The included rate and the overage rate are the same number. $499 ÷ 384 = $1.2995 per 1,000, against a $1.30 overage — the same rate to within a twentieth of a cent. The Scale plan is not a discounted block you can overrun expensively — it is a flat lower rate you unlock by committing to the monthly fee. That is unusually clean, and worth saying out loud, because most credit plans punish overage.

Which also means unused records are pure loss. If you commit to $499 and use 100,000 records, you paid $4.99 per 1,000 for them. The plan has no published rollover.

Bright Data does not publish the per-record rate that works out to, and the discount runs for three months against a plan that renews every month, so it is a promotional rate rather than a standing one. Do not build a budget on it.

The One Switch Point Nobody Prints

Given the two paid options a buyer can actually price — pay-as-you-go and the one Scale plan — there is exactly one monthly volume at which the cheaper one changes. Bright Data does not publish it; it follows directly from the rates above.

Method: solve the two cost functions for the crossover, where cost = monthly fee + max(0, volume − included) × overage rate. Rounded to the nearest hundred records. Re-check this if Bright Data changes the plan.

Bright Data LinkedIn Dataset Pricing: The Volume Ladder

The marketplace prints exactly one number in prose — "Starts from $250/100K rec" — and puts the rest of the ladder behind a slider. Read out of the configurator's own embedded pricing table on the LinkedIn datasets hub (the same table also backs brightdata.com/pricing/datasets), re-read 14 August 2026, these are the breakpoints where the rate actually changes. Note that the slider's printed labels read "100K / 500K / 1M / 5M / 20M", but the rate does not change at 1M — it changes at 1.4M.

Note the direction of travel. The LinkedIn dataset hub headlines "Starts at — Up to $0.0025 per record", and $0.0025 per record is $2.50 per 1,000 — the most expensive rate on the whole ladder, presented as the starting point. Every rate below it is cheaper, and the page never lists them.

The $250 minimum order is the other buried constraint. It is stated on the LinkedIn dataset hub as "Min Order $250," and it is absolute: there is no 10,000-record purchase. Below 100,000 records the marketplace is not a cheap option, it is not an option at all. Bright Data's dataset billing FAQ also states that "each plan includes a minimum monthly commitment, which is billed at the start of each month as long as your account is active" — the amount of that commitment is not published.

"Save 80%" Is Not 80% Off the Price

This is the single most misread control on the page, and I have not found another write-up that explains it.

The dataset configurator offers four "refresh rate" options: One-time, Biannual (Save 25%), Quarterly (Save 50%) and Monthly (Save 80%). It reads like a discount picker. It is not. It is a delivery-count picker for a one-year subscription, and the percentage is taken off the total of all deliveries in that year — not off the sticker price of one.

Here is the arithmetic on 100,000 LinkedIn profile records, verified against the configurator's own pricing on 13 August 2026.

So a buyer who wants 100,000 profiles once, sees "Save 80%," and clicks it does not pay $50. They pay $600 — 2.4× the $250 they would have paid on One-time — and receive eleven refreshes they did not ask for.

Read the other way, it is a genuinely strong offer: $0.50 per 1,000 records delivered against $2.50 on One-time, a real 5× improvement, and the cheapest per-record rate anywhere in Bright Data's LinkedIn line-up below 20 million records. If you need monthly-fresh firmographics, take it. If you need a snapshot, the label is actively working against you.

The rule: the discount is real per record delivered, and inverted per dollar spent. Decide how many refreshes you need first, then read the label. This is the same failure mode as credit plans that look cheap per credit and expire before you spend them — see do SERP API credits expire.

The Same Workload at Four Volumes

One workload: public LinkedIn people-profile records, collected once. Bright Data Web Scraper API on its cheapest published plan for that volume, Bright Data Dataset Marketplace on a one-time purchase, and Serpent's LinkedIn API at its published $0.50 per 1,000 profile rate for reference. The ranking reorders exactly once, and it reorders where the dataset ladder steps down — not where the API does. Below 5 million records the Scraper API is cheaper at every stop on the slider. At 5 million the dataset rate falls to $1.00 per 1,000, under the flat $1.30 the API charges above its included block, and the dataset stays cheaper from there to the top of the ladder.

Where the crossover actually is

Once you are past the Scale plan's included block, the API bill is the monthly fee plus $1.30 per 1,000 on everything above 384,000 records. Multiply that out and the fee almost exactly cancels the block it buys:

Dataset bill (one-time, $1.00/1K band)
  = V / 1000 x $1.00

So above about 384,000 records the API is a flat $1.30 per 1,000 and nothing more — the monthly fee has already paid for itself, and no published plan takes it lower. The dataset ladder does keep stepping down — $2.50, $2.00, $1.50, $1.00 and finally $0.50 per 1,000 — so it crosses that flat rate at the 5,000,000 stop, where its own rate drops to $1.00, and it never crosses back. I checked every stop in the configurator's embedded pricing table on 14 August 2026.

The ladder holds flat at $1.00 per 1,000 through that whole band, then steps to $0.50 at the final 20,000,000 stop. So the dataset's lead is a steady 1.3× from 5 million up, and then widens to 2.6× in one step at the end. Above 5 million there is no volume on the published ladder where the API is the cheaper way to buy the same records.

So the useful rule is sharper than "big volumes favour the dataset," and the line sits in one place. Below 5 million records the API is genuinely cheaper at every stop. At 5 million and above the dataset is cheaper at every stop, by about 1.3× and by 2.6× at the top. Price picks the product on both sides of that line — but shape can still overrule it: whether you need specific profiles or a population slice, whether you can pull the volume inside one billing month, and whether one file beats millions of calls.

Two honest caveats on that table. The Scale plan is a monthly subscription, so a 5-million-record one-off assumes you can pull it inside one billing month — and Bright Data publishes no throughput figure to confirm that. And the two products deliver different things: a dataset row is a pre-collected record matching a filter, while an API record is collected against the URL you supplied. If you need specific profiles, the dataset ladder is irrelevant no matter how cheap it gets.

What Counts as a Record

Bright Data is unusually clear here, and the definition is worth quoting because it is what the whole rate card multiplies. From the dataset FAQ: "One record equals one entity: one person profile, one product listing, one job posting, one company, one social media post... Each record is a single row in your delivered file (or a single JSON object), containing all the data fields collected for that entity." The Scraper API page says the same thing in one line: "A record is one extracted item, shown as a row in the table — e.g., one LinkedIn profile."

What Bright Data Does Not Publish

This list is a finding, not a gap. Where a number is only obtainable by talking to sales, that is a real property of the pricing, and it belongs in your evaluation alongside the rates. Every entry below was re-confirmed still unpublished on 14 August 2026:

None of this is unusual for an enterprise data vendor, and none of it is a criticism — but it does mean that any published comparison of Bright Data above 20 million records, or on Enterprise terms, is guessing. If you see one with a number in it, ask where the number came from.
