One Web search price, whichever engine you ask for — Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo or Brave. The rate below is the Web category rate; setting engine= never changes what you pay. Quick Search is billed one published Web category unit per request whatever your tier or balance. On Deep Search, one published Web category unit is charged per page requested, up to 10 pages, at every tier and every balance. At Scale, Web search is $0.03/1K calls.
Failed requests (server errors) are automatically refunded
Empty responses are refunded automatically when the search could not be completed. If we ran out of time, or could not complete the search for another reason on our side, its credits are returned to your account. A search that completes and genuinely has no matches is a delivered result and is charged — “there is nothing here” is a real answer to a real question. A response that is short of what you asked for is also a delivered response and is charged normally.
free calls for every new account
Your pricing tier is locked by your largest single deposit — $100 once locks Growth (10× off), $500 once locks Scale (20× off). It never downgrades, even as your balance spends down. Rate limits are a separate dimension that follows your live balance. Web Search and News get 10× off (Growth) / 20× off (Scale); Images and Videos use the standard 10% (Growth) / 30% (Scale) discount.

Same rate for every model — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

AI Mode is an add-on, not an endpoint. You buy it by sending include_ai_mode=true with a Deep Search call on a paid plan, and the $0.004 is charged on top of that call's own rate — a 10-page Deep call at Default is $0.006 for the pages plus $0.004 for AI Mode. It is priced the same at every tier because it is a flat fee per call, not a rate we discount.

Maps uses the standard tier discount — 10% off at Growth, 30% off at Scale.
Maps Deep has two flat bands, and there is a hard step between them. Every Deep call returns up to 100 ranked places whatever you ask for; detail only decides how many of those get opened and fully enriched — the rest come back as core_only records that still carry name, address, coordinates, rating, review count, phone and website. detail 0–20 is the standard band at $0.0150 per call. detail 21–100 is the premium band at $0.0750 per call, flat — 21 and 99 cost exactly the same. So detail=20 bills $0.0150 and detail=21 bills $0.0750: 5× for one more enriched place. That step is deliberate, and we would rather you read it here than find it on an invoice. The default is detail=20, inside the standard band.
Read the unit before you compare us to anyone. At the default detail=20 a Deep call is $0.15 per 1,000 places returned and $0.75 per 1,000 fully-enriched places. At the premium band's detail=100 it is $0.75 per 1,000 places returned and $0.75 per 1,000 fully-enriched places — the same enriched-record rate at both ends of the product, which is why the premium band is fair value at its ceiling rather than a penalty. Between the two it is worse per enriched record: detail=30 is $0.0750 a call for 30 enriched, i.e. $2.50 per 1,000 fully-enriched places. If you are buying enrichment by the record, sit at 20 or go to 100.
Quick and Deep cost the same at the default. Maps Quick is $0.0150 per call and fully enriches all 20 places it returns — $0.75 per 1,000 fully-enriched places. Maps Deep at detail=20 is also $0.0150 per call, fully enriches 20, and additionally returns up to 100 ranked places as core_only records. Deep is the better value on data per dollar; Quick is the faster, smaller response and is the one with start paging through the ranked list.
Synchronous Deep requests are capped at detail=30. That is a performance limit, not a pricing one — you may ask for 21–30 synchronously and simply pay the premium $0.0750 per call. detail above 30, up to 100, is submitted as a job at GET /api/maps/search/async and billed at the same flat premium $0.0750 per call. GET /api/status is the authority on whether the job surface is live for your account — read limits.endpoints[…].async_available before you build against it.
Search responses preserve ranked core records when detail enrichment reaches its deadline.

Three discount shapes sit in this one table, and each row says which it uses. YouTube takes the core discount — 90% off at Growth, 95% off at Scale. Nearly every other row here — Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Amazon, Reddit and the X post call alike — takes the standard discount: 10% off at Growth, 30% off at Scale. The column headings quote the largest of the three, which is why they read “up to”. The one exception is /api/x/profile, which is flat: $0.10 per 1,000 on all three tiers, and $0.15 hydrated on all three. A bigger deposit does not move it, and printing the same number three times is more honest than printing a discount we do not give.
Read the unit before you compare any of these rates. X and Reddit are billed per request, never per record returned — one X call is one charge whatever the profile lists, and a Reddit search, user or community call is one charge at any limit. The single exception is /api/reddit/posts and /api/reddit/comments, where limit is a price: the rate buys 25 records and each started block of 25 adds one unit, so 100 records is four blocks — $0.48 per 1,000 calls at Default, which is $0.0048 per 1,000 posts. Ask for 26 and you pay for 50. That curve is printed here rather than discovered on an invoice.
The free calls are one shared allowance, not one per product. Every endpoint in this table draws from the same pool as Web, News, Maps and the rest — a free call is one call whatever its depth or how many field groups it asks for. A hydrated X profile spends one free call, not one and a half, and a 100-record Reddit listing spends one, not four: the free pool counts calls, never multipliers or blocks. The single exception is TikTok Media: adding include_media makes that call paid, always.

* Rates shown are locked per tier once published and stay unchanged; a call is billed at the rate of the tier your largest single deposit locked in. The only exception: if a platform's public pages change their structure — e.g. Google, Instagram or another engine updates its layout — and collecting the data becomes materially more expensive, that vertical's rate may be re-evaluated, with notice before any change applies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our pricing

Serpent API uses a pay-as-you-go credit system. Deposit funds into your account and credits are deducted per API call based on the engine and endpoint used. No subscriptions or recurring charges. Your deposited credits never expire (promotional bonus credits expire 30 days after they're granted — see below).
For new users, the minimum to get started is $10. Once your lifetime deposits reach $50, the minimum for any further top-up is $100 — so established accounts add credits in larger blocks. Growth pricing (10× off) is locked in forever with a one-time $100 deposit, and Scale pricing (20× off) is locked in forever with a one-time $500 deposit, so the larger minimum lines up with the tier thresholds.
Your pricing tier is locked in by your largest single deposit — a one-time $100 deposit locks Growth pricing forever, a one-time $500 deposit locks Scale pricing forever. It never downgrades and never expires, even if your balance spends down. Rate limits are a separate dimension that follows your live balance. Bonus/coupon credits add spendable balance but don't count toward the one-time deposit lock.
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through our secure payment partner Dodo Payments. All transactions are SSL encrypted and processed securely.
Your deposited credits never expire — once added, they stay in your account until used, with no monthly fees or maintenance charges. Promotional bonus credits (for example the extra credits from a coupon match or bonus offer) expire 30 days after they're granted. Only that bonus portion expires — your deposited balance always remains. When you make API calls, spending draws from your bonus credits first, so they're used before they lapse. Your billing dashboard shows your deposit and bonus balances separately, along with the bonus expiry date.
Every response we could not complete is refunded automatically to your account. One exception: a 404 for a resource that genuinely does not exist is an answer, and that call is charged.
Because credits are delivered instantly, purchases are generally non-refundable. We make exceptions for technical failures, duplicate charges, unauthorized transactions, or service discontinuation. Separately, requests we could not complete are refunded automatically; a 404 for a resource that does not exist is an answer and is charged. Submit refund requests within 7 days of purchase via info@apiserpent.com. See the full Refund Policy.
The Enterprise plan is designed for large-scale operations that need custom volume pricing, higher-throughput planning, onboarding coordination, and procurement support. Contact us at info@apiserpent.com to discuss your requirements.
